Pedro Acosta is making waves in MotoGP and some see in the rookie an echo of what Marc Márquez did in his debut season at the top, as is the case with Randy Mamola, who puts the Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 rider alongside talented riders like Casey Stoner and Valentino Rossi.
The American was a big star in the category, then 500cc, and continues to be someone who closely follows MotoGP and knows the sport very well. Looking at the current grid, there is a young rider who stands out and is having an incredible debut and surprising many, even reminiscent of exactly what Marc Márquez did, considered, in words to Relevo, quoted in Motosan: ‘When he finds a better rhythm on the bike, you can see that he is one of the few KTM riders capable of doing that. The same thing happened with Marc and Honda in the beginning’.
Still, Mamola sees something more in Acosta than he saw in Márquez back then and puts him alongside other MotoGP stars: ‘Marc was also funny, but not like Pedro. He has the talent and it simply shines through, he is one of those prodigy boys. He is a Casey Stoner, he is a Valentino [Rossi], those types of riders’.
And he continued: ‘This guy has great instincts. He is at his limit, but on a line that he controls perfectly. He knows what the bike is going to do, that is something that cannot be taught’.
