Maverick Viñales had his second full season with Aprilia Racing in 2023 and his best so far, finishing the year in seventh, just two points behind the manufacturer’s main star for many years, Aleix Espargaró.
His growth has been constant, as Paolo Bonora pointed out to the championship’s website: ‘Race by race he has become much more consistent from the start. In MotoGP, you need to be at the front at the first corner if you want to get a good result. All his feedback has been very helpful for Aprilia’.
The team manager recalled the way #12 rides the RS-GP, with a note about the future: ‘His riding style is very different from Aleix’s and we know where we need to improve’.
Despite his improvement, Viñales is still looking for his first victory with Aprilia. In 2023, his best result was three second places in Portugal, Catalonia, and Indonesia.
