Miguel Oliveira is back in the points at the Austrian MotoGP. The Trackhouse Racing rider was initially outside the top 15 in the early laps of the race, gradually recovering in the standings: he reached 11th place, but dropped to 12th on the final lap.
The start was weak for the Portuguese rider, who lost several positions in the first lap of the race after starting in 13th. And returning to the points took time in a race where there were practically no retirements.
After spending several laps in 16th, in the ninth Oliveira made a pass on Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha), which brought him to 15th. He then had his teammate Raúl Fernández ahead of him, and both overtook Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GasGas Tech3/KTM) on lap 10.
Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM) crashed while in sixth place on lap 11, which allowed Oliveira to reach 13th, a position he held until overtaking Fernández during the 18th of the 28 planned laps. Closer to the end, “Falcão” briefly occupied 11th place ahead of Pol Espargaró (Red Bull KTM) on the penultimate lap, but was overtaken by the Spaniard on the final lap and finished 12th.
