Since making his MotoGP debut in 2019, Joan Mir has only been in two teams – Suzuki, led by Davide Brivio until 2020, and now Repsol Honda, with Alberto Puig in charge.
After over a year at Honda, the 2020 world champion was approached to compare the two team bosses he worked with – this when Brivio is back in MotoGP, but with Trackhouse Racing. Mir commented:
– One aspect they have in common is that they always talk to the rider, they always try to be very close to the rider – probably Alberto even more. Brivio showed in the past that the leadership he had at Suzuki was very good. He built a team from scratch and this is something very difficult. They have some differences, but when it comes to how they approach the relationship with the rider, they are very similar.
