Honda is working on several fronts of the RC213V, in order to develop its bike and make it competitive again after the downturn of recent years. And the engine is one of the areas.
At this moment, a new engine is being prepared, which the riders believe has good potential – as Joan Mir has already made clear, although he believes it needs improvement.
Asked if the new engine is a step in the right direction and just needs to be worked on, the rider from Majorca confirmed: ‘There is much more room with this engine. So, it makes sense to do more kilometers with it, and when we receive this update we will take a good step, I’m sure‘.
MotoGP is now on a short break until the end of June, giving some time for teams and manufacturers to do more work and find solutions. The return will be with the Dutch Grand Prix.
At this moment, Mir is in 18th place in the championship with 13 points and, despite his three retirements, he is the highest-ranked Honda rider.
