Marc Márquez may have finished in the top five in the qualifying for the Italian MotoGP Grand Prix, but in previous rounds he has shown some difficulties in setting fast laps – failing to reach Q2 in both the French Grand Prix and the Catalunya Grand Prix.
The Gresini Spaniard admitted in a press conference that he still has a riding style very much linked to Honda, with lap times being achieved differently:
– I have a riding style that is tailored to Honda, riding the same bike for ten years. And all the lap time was on entry, going into the corner. And it’s one of my strengths now on the Ducati, but it’s one of my weaknesses in the fast lap.
That being said, Márquez believes that improvements can be made not only through his riding style, but also with the bike: ‘I need to try to improve my riding style, and also with the base setup we can improve a bit. We have some ideas from my technicians. Let’s see if we can improve the lap time a bit‘.
