Not only does Ducati have little chance of testing the MotoGP bike in 2024, but it is also prevented from making wildcard entries at Grand Prix events due to the new concession system. This task was usually left to test rider Michele Pirro.
In Francesco Bagnaia’s opinion, the fact that the absence of concessions greatly limits the development and testing of the bike would make a wildcard of little or no use:
– Honestly in the last years with the concessions they removed from us was difficult to have an advantage having a wildcard – because he was here exactly with the same bike as us. So he couldn’t try new things, so was the same. KTM can try new bikes during a race weekend.
A situation that contrasts with that of his rivals, as the 2022 and 2023 champion noted in a press conference: ‘So they removed the chance to taking advantage of having a wildcard. Like this you can feel if it’s better or not’.
