Álvaro Bautista is in his final year of contract with Aruba.it Ducati in the World Superbike Championship. After being champion in 2022 and 2023, he is once again fighting for the title this year, leading the championship.
Despite the new rules regarding the minimum weight, which have a particularly large impact on him, the Spanish rider continues to show strong competitiveness against heavy rivals such as Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW) or teammate Nicolò Bulega.
However, he is approaching 40 years old and already has a long history in motorcycling – so in addition to continuing with Aruba.it Ducati, he may be unsure whether to continue competing or retire.
In statements to the championship’s official website, Bautista hinted that he may decide in the coming weeks, stating: ‘I am only focusing on this. My priority is to think about the Misano round [June 14-16] and do our best. I think after Misano I will make a decision‘.
