With a confirmed rider at Aprilia for the 2025 season – Jorge Martín – there are still three RS-GP bikes to assign. Two of them belong to the satellite team Trackhouse Racing, which currently has Miguel Oliveira and Raúl Fernández. So far, neither of them has shown performances and results that are clearly convincing for renewal, although the Noale manufacturer trusts in the potential of both.
Massimo Rivola, CEO of Aprilia Racing, was asked if the choice of Trackhouse riders will be a joint decision with the manufacturer, to which he replied: ‘This is interesting. We are discussing with Davide [Brivio, Trackhouse team manager]. We are, so to speak, very aligned – Davide and I. And we also have the same feelings about the riders. I think Trackhouse has a bright future because they are also moving in the technical market for the coming years. They will choose the riders; it is obvious that I will say what I think about it‘.
The Italian leader of Aprilia emphasized that Oliveira and Fernández are good riders: ‘They currently have good riders, it’s just that I think they haven’t shown all the potential they have. And we will see. When they choose, we will see if it goes through us or not‘.
What will not have a decisive weight in the choice is the speculated desire for Trackhouse to have an American driver in an American team by 2025: ‘I don’t think that will be the case, as the market can now offer us very good drivers. I think in an interview Davide said that it is not the case for Trackhouse to hire young drivers to grow them for Aprilia Racing. And I agree; I think we should now go to the market, which is very fast – and we have shown that it is fast – to choose the best possible drivers for the four bikes,’ said Rivola.
