After the MotoGP testing day in Mugello, Raúl Fernández underwent surgery on his right arm. The rider had been affected by compartment syndrome since the beginning of the season.
Taking advantage of the fact that the championship will now stop for three weeks before the Dutch GP, the Spanish Trackhouse Racing rider underwent this successful operation, performed by Dr. Xavier Mir.
After the Italian GP last Sunday, Fernández admitted that he was again having problems and would need surgery – this after finishing 12th in a race where he struggled a lot with physical difficulties.
The #25 shared the news of the surgery on social media, writing: ‘A quick pit stop to solve the arm pains I have been feeling since the beginning of the season. Thanks to Dr. Mir for his work. The goal now is to recover to be 100 percent in Assen. See you in three weeks!‘.
After seven Grand Prix races, Fernández is in 12th place in the championship, having always scored points after retiring from the first two rounds. His best result was sixth place in Barcelona and, at the moment, he is three positions ahead of teammate Miguel Oliveira – although he only has one more point.
A quick stop at the box to finish with the arm pump that I have been dragging from the start of the season. Thanks to Doctor Mir for his job. Now focus on the rehab to be at 100% for Assen. See you in a few weeks. 🔥🚀#RF25#ALLIN25 pic.twitter.com/x35Rpwbyee
