Miguel Oliveira did not go beyond 14th place in the Italian MotoGP Grand Prix. A few laps from the end, he even launched an attack on 12th place, held by his Trackhouse Racing teammate, Raúl Fernández, but had a setback that made him lose position to Marco Bezzecchi (Pertamina Enduro VR46/Ducati).
The Portuguese told the press: ‘It was a long race. I was getting a good pace in the end, very consistent. Four laps from the end I approached Raúl. When I went to overtake him, I got stuck in fifth gear. I don’t know if it’s a gearbox problem or simply something related probably to the lever, because then it didn’t happen again‘.
The difficulties of the previous two days also affected Oliveira in the race, as he mentioned: ‘Otherwise, more or less the problems of the whole weekend, there wasn’t much turning in the fast corners and spending so much time at the lean angle really disturbs me to make the lap time. I’m disappointed, the team tried to give me some solutions, but couldn’t. Today we had to suffer a bit, so I’m looking forward to tomorrow, to try something‘.
Although Mugello is a ‘very physical’ track with ‘many changes of direction’, “Falcão” had no problems with his arm. Regarding the test day, the rider still doesn’t know what work he will do: ‘I still don’t know, I don’t know the plan yet, so maybe later‘.
