Kevin Zannoni achieved victory on Saturday in the second race of the MotoE Italian Grand Prix. It is the second consecutive time that the Italian finishes in the top spot of the podium, allowing him to strengthen his championship lead.
It is worth noting that the first race, interrupted after Lukas Tulovic’s accident (Dynavolt Intact GP) this morning, will be resumed at 5:40 pm (Portugal Continental time).
Alessandro Zaccone (Tech3 E-Racing) had a good start, but Zannoni (Openbank Aspar) did even better to take the lead right towards the first corner.
Mattia Casadei (LCR E-Team) positioned himself in second and tried to attack the leader at the beginning of the second lap, but without success. Zaccone was third, but was overtaken by teammate Nicholas Spinelli who had previously passed Eric Granado (LCR E-Team).
At the front, Zannoni and Casadei managed to distance themselves from the rivals, but the battle for third place heated up, with several riders involved. Granado and Massimo Roccoli (Ongetta SIC58 Squadra Corse) overtook Spinelli and Zaccone to place themselves in third and fourth, respectively.
On the last lap, Casadei tried to attack Zannoni, but the championship leader resisted to secure the victory. Granado had to resist and respond to Roccoli until the end to secure the lowest spot on the podium. Zaccone lost fifth place to Andrea Mantovani (Klint Forward) on the last lap.
