Jeremy Alcoba was the fastest in the first qualifying session of the Italian Moto2 Grand Prix, thus securing one of the last spots in Q2. The same was achieved by Darryn Binder, Marcos Ramírez, and Zonta van den Goorbergh.
The leader after the first flying laps was Binder (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP/Kalex), with van den Goorbergh (RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP/Kalex), Filip Salac (Elf Marc VDS/Kalex), and Ramírez (OnlyFans American Racing Team/Kalex) also in qualifying positions.
With several riders entering the pits right after their first timed laps, the standings remained largely unchanged at the front… until the last four minutes, which were the decisive phase of Q1.
Ramírez strengthened his top four position by improving to second, before Alcoba (Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Team/Kalex) took the lead by surpassing Binder by 0.034s. Ramírez was relegated to third.
Van den Goorbergh did not improve, but finished in fourth, also securing a spot in Q2. In fifth, Salac missed out on Q2 by 0.048s behind the Dutch rider.
