The last four riders who will compete for pole position in the Italian Moto3 GP have been found. Scott Ogden led the first qualifying session at Mugello, moving forward along with David Muñoz, Joel Kelso, and Fillipo Farioli.
After the first flying laps, Nicola Carraro (LevelUp-MTA/KTM) was leading Q1 ahead of Ogden (MLav Racing/Honda) and Joel Esteban (CFMoto Valresa Aspar), with Ángel Piqueras (Leopard Racing/Honda) in fourth.
That’s how the table remained in the following minutes, as almost all riders immediately returned to the pits. Muñoz (BOE Motorsports/KTM) ended up last after having his first lap invalidated.
Within the last three minutes, Muñoz moved up to first place, while his teammate Kelso settled in second. Carraro and Ogden dropped to third and fourth, while Esteban and Piqueras missed out on the qualifying spots.
Esteban and Piqueras briefly returned to the top four, but towards the end, they couldn’t resist the improvements of several competitors. Ogden finished in the lead, beating Muñoz by 0.378s. Kelso took third and Farioli (SIC58 Squadra Corse/Honda) secured fourth right at the end. Esteban, in fifth, missed out on qualifying by 0.243s.
