Enea Bastianini is one of the riders involved in one of the most important decisions in the MotoGP rider market for 2025 – the one related to the place in the Ducati factory team.
The rider currently holds that spot, but is at the end of his contract and speculation is rife. This Thursday, the Italian press reported that Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati) has already been chosen.
As for the Italian, although he does not hide his desire to stay where he is, he admitted that he cannot think about his aspirations if he does not stay in Ducati: ‘It’s normal. I have a preference, but it’s too early to talk about this. I will understand this situation better after Mugello, after Ducati’s decision. We have three weeks to understand what my best option should be. But at the moment, I have to think about other things and I have to understand why my speed was not good in Barcelona‘.
And how is Bastianini dealing with all the rider market turmoil? ‘It’s chaotic since the first race. It’s strange, but it’s not a problem. But sometimes you have to think about it and when I have to talk about the future, I think: “Again, again, again”. It’s normal. All the riders are up there: me, Marc [Márquez] and Jorge Martín, and we are in the top four of the rider standings,’ he said.
That said, the current Ducati rider acknowledged that he is behind Márquez and Martín: ‘At this moment, Jorge has something more compared to the others. We have seen it several times. Marc is good in the race, he has a stronger first lap. I am consistent, but not very explosive at the moment. The choice of Ducati may be difficult, I know that, but after this race we will have the result and we will be happy‘.
