Maverick Viñales did not go beyond 12th place in the Catalunya MotoGP, while his Aprilia teammate, Aleix Espargaró, finished fourth not far from the podium. However, for the younger of the Spaniards, the difference in performance was not so significant.
The #12 commented: ‘It’s a different style, probably starting from the front row. But if you look at the pace, in the middle of the race when I was alone, I was doing some faster laps than Aleix‘.
Despite the Barcelona round falling far short of expectations, Viñales does not feel the need to make radical changes for the next weekend’s Italian GP:
– I have to be honest: we were not at the level. It wasn’t enough, but we don’t have to be crazy. It is what it is, and we need to continue with our standard bike and see if we can join the front group in Mugello.
