Pedro Acosta is making an impression in his first season in MotoGP, with two podiums in six races. Furthermore, despite being a rookie, he is showing himself to be at the level or even above more experienced KTM riders like Brad Binder or Jack Miller.
The young Spaniard is linked to KTM, with expectations that the manufacturer will call him up to the factory team – which would mean his departure from Red Bull GasGas Tech3 managed by Hervé Poncharal.
Quoted by the site SPEEDWEEK.com, the Frenchman stated: ‘I am realistic, the chances of Pedro still riding for our team next year are not very high. We will probably lose him‘.
Nevertheless, Poncharal does not see Acosta’s departure as a loss – considering the synergies that Tech3 has with KTM, being fully involved in the project:
– This does not mean a real loss – because Pedro has a contract for next year and will remain part of the Pierer Mobility Group. Honestly, that is what matters.
