The next weekend’s Italian GP will be the second for Aleix Espargaró since announcing his retirement from MotoGP at the end of the season. Last Sunday he came close to the podium at the Catalunya GP, finishing fourth after winning the Sprint race.
It was the rider’s home round, and now he heads to his team’s home GP – Aprilia. Therefore, Mugello once again holds a particular importance for Espargaró.
The Spaniard highlighted this in a preview statement, with his goal for the Italian GP being clear – to once again have good feelings and compete for podium positions:
– I said at the beginning of the season that these two weekends were extremely important for me. Barcelona and Mugello are two of the best rounds of the season, at home for me and at home for Aprilia. I hope to find the same good feeling I had in Barcelona and fight for the podium in Mugello. I can’t wait.
