Aleix Espargaró has confirmed that he will retire from MotoGP at the end of the MotoGP season, leaving at least one spot open at Aprilia for 2025. The CEO, Massimo Rivola, has many options on the table, not ruling anything out.
The other current rider on the team is Maverick Viñales and, despite being at the end of his contract, the manager intends to keep him as he told DAZN: ‘Maverick, for me, is still part of the continuity. I am a fan of Maverick. Also, I believe that, after Austin, Maverick was able to arrive prepared to win‘.
Regarding the open spot, Rivola emphasized that no possibilities are ruled out when asked if Marc Márquez is an option: ‘We are prepared for any option. We want to win and we want the best, so never say never. We have to be prepared, attentive, and keep looking to see what they rule out, which will be a great choice‘.
Jorge Lorenzo also participated in the interview, believing that Ducati could promote Jorge Martín to the factory team and leave Marc Márquez in a satellite team with equal equipment. For Rivola, that would also be the logical choice, but then two other Italian riders that Aprilia sees in a positive light could become available:
– If I were them, I would do that [Martín at Ducati, Márquez in a satellite team with current bike]. Enea Bastianini is also a very interesting Italian that I have always loved. Marco Bezzecchi is also quite interesting, and then obviously, if we talk about Italians, it could be one of their riders. We will see soon. We have choices.
