Miguel Oliveira was the tenth classified in the MotoGP Catalunya GP, but it was far from an easy round. The Trackhouse Racing Portuguese rider had some difficulties in Barcelona, but still feels that he evolved positively since Friday – despite having encountered setbacks and a performance below expectations in the main race.
The #88 explained that there were progress throughout the weekend, but not to the extent expected: ‘We tried hard to achieve a good performance. In fact, we achieved a good performance in qualifying, we had good speed. And we were competitive with the soft rear tire. It’s just a shame that on Saturday we were a bit off with the front pressure and with the crash, of course. But other than that, I feel that it was a weekend where we actually managed to improve. Just on Sunday I expected much more from the bike and it didn’t happen‘.
Some riders who started further back, like Marc Márquez (Gresini/Ducati), opted for the soft rear tire. Oliveira did not and explained his reasons:
– The problem was the heat. We knew that the consumption issue wouldn’t be much different on the right side, but because the track temperature was so hot, we were a bit scared to actually go with the soft. So, to be honest, we didn’t consider it.
