In recent days, new rumors have emerged about the future of KTM riders – particularly Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM) and Augusto Fernández (Red Bull GasGas Tech3/KTM) – in the eventuality of Jorge Martín or Marc Márquez being hired. Pit Beirer, director of KTM Motorsports, addressed the issue.
In an interview with the championship website, the official was confronted with this possible scenario, to which he replied: ‘I can’t tell you, because the way I see the project is that we have four places in MotoGP and at this stage we can’t say who will be in which position, on which side. We only look at the four places in general and try to make the most of it‘.
Beirer then lamented the fact that an interview of his about the possibility of hiring Martín or Márquez had been distorted: ‘I’m also a bit sad, because an interview of mine was completely misused and mistranslated, because they asked me if we will hire Marc Márquez or Jorge Martín, I tried to stay out of this discussion. And I didn’t want to seem like this important person who could have someone like Marc or Jorge Martín. I think we can’t‘.
At this moment, the German emphasized, KTM is focused on the current riders: ‘So, it was my moment to protect our riders, and I tell you: our biggest motivation at the moment is to get all our four riders to their performance levels and we want to put Brad where he wants to be. But also Jack and Augusto. So, our motivation at this stage of the year is to get our four guys to the maximum levels and not look at other riders and put pressure on the riders we have‘.
