Miguel Oliveira is back to top ten results and points in MotoGP. He finished tenth in the Catalan GP, held this Sunday in Barcelona.
With two new medium tires, the Trackhouse Racing Portuguese rider climbed from 15th to 12th in the first corners, but dropped to 14th on the opening lap. On the second lap, he rose to 13th. Jack Miller’s (Red Bull KTM) crash on the third lap put Oliveira in 12th.
It was in this position that #88 settled during the following laps, never being far from the rival immediately ahead. A crash by Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GasGas Tech3/KTM) on lap 11 promoted him to 11th.
The top ten came on lap 18, with a double Long Lap penalty for Enea Bastianini (Ducati) ahead of him; and shortly after, Oliveira moved up to ninth with Franco Morbidelli’s (Prima Pramac/Ducati) crash. A position he couldn’t hold, as he was overtaken by Bastianini on lap 21.
On the penultimate lap, Oliveira lost one more place, to Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha), finishing in 11th. He then moved up to tenth, as Bastianini was penalized 32 seconds for not completing one of the Long Laps. It is the return of the Almada rider to the points, also managing to be better than Maverick Viñales (Aprilia) who finished in 12th.
