Miguel Oliveira is back in the top ten results and in the points in MotoGP. He finished tenth in the Catalunya GP, which took place this Sunday in Barcelona.
With two new medium tires, the Portuguese rider from Trackhouse Racing climbed from 15th to 12th in the first corners, but on the opening lap he dropped to 14th. On the second lap, he rose to 13th. Jack Miller’s (Red Bull KTM) crash on the third lap left Oliveira in 12th.
It was in this position that #88 settled during the following laps, never being far from the rival immediately ahead. Pedro Acosta’s (Red Bull GasGas Tech3/KTM) crash on lap 11 promoted him to 11th.
The top ten arrived on lap 18, with the double Long Lap penalty for Enea Bastianini (Ducati) ahead of him; and shortly after, Oliveira reached ninth with Franco Morbidelli’s (Prima Pramac/Ducati) crash. A position he could not maintain, as on lap 21 he was overtaken by Bastianini.
On the penultimate lap, Oliveira lost one more place, to Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha) finishing in 11th. He then moved up to tenth, as Bastianini was penalized by 32 seconds for not completing one of the Long Laps. It is the return of the Almada rider to the points, having also managed to be better than Maverick Viñales (Aprilia) who finished in 12th.
