On his birthday, Pedro Acosta returned to good results yesterday with a third place finish in the Sprint race of the Catalunya MotoGP Grand Prix. Despite gaining a position on the last lap with Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) crashing, he has shown competitiveness so far in Barcelona.
The Red Bull GasGas Tech3 Spanish rider was asked if he feels he has the bike to win Sunday’s race. In response, he said: ‘I hope so. I mean, the team will work, but we don’t really know‘.
Acosta then highlighted KTM’s progress in Barcelona compared to the 2023 season, also noting that he wasn’t far off from the Sprint race winner:
– But the good thing is that we are getting closer. In a track where last year the bike struggled a lot, we are in third. Let’s say, excluding Pecco’s crash on the last lap, which I know someone will ask about, we would be fourth… I don’t know, maybe 1.2s from the winner, not too far.
