Friday of the Catalunya Moto3 GP had a big protagonist: David Alonso. Just like in free practice, the rider set a record lap in the afternoon session to lead.
After the first flying laps, Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) was in the lead, and stayed there for over 13 minutes until being surpassed by Alonso (CFMoto Gaviota Aspar).
The Colombian didn’t lead for long before Jacob Roulstone (Red Bull GasGas Tech3) overtook him. Then, Roulstone’s teammate, Daniel Holgado, took the top spot. With 27 minutes gone, José Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo) also tasted the lead.
However, with less than five minutes to go, Alonso set a record lap that was out of reach: 1m46.897s. Rueda didn’t improve and finished second 0.158s behind, followed by Holgado. Veijer was fourth and Iván Ortolá (MT Helmets-MSi/KTM) completed the top five.
