After three seasons with the Honda RC213V, Álex Márquez moved in 2023 to Gresini, where he rode a Ducati Desmosedici GP22. Despite having to adapt to a new bike, he achieved convincing results, including returning to the podium.
The Spaniard admitted to Moto.it that he surpassed some of his expectations: ‘I’m not a rider who is fast right from the start, but with this bike, I managed to be fast, win a Sprint, make it to the podium, first row, pole position, and I did things I didn’t expect’.
Finishing ninth in the final standings, Márquez didn’t meet the goal he had set: ‘The goal was to be among the top seven/eight and next year take the next step to fight for more important things’.
