Jorge Martín was the second fastest on the second day of MotoGP testing in Sepang and even broke the official circuit lap record. However, he wasn’t very pleased as he was unable to make a decision regarding the fairing to use.
The Prima Pramac Spanish rider stated to the press: ‘I didn’t feel so good. It was a difficult day, because we should have decided the new fairing and we didn’t. Tomorrow we’ll still have to work on it and understand if it’s better or we will keep the old one for the first race’.
According to Martín, the fairing makes the bike heavier and more challenging in some areas, but it also has advantages: ‘Well, I feel the bike a bit heavier. The feeling on braking is a little better, but the rest of the circuit I struggle quite a lot. I hope that tomorrow we can understand the way to go and maybe doing some changes on the bike we can improve the feeling. We just need to keep working on it. I don’t want to lose a lot of time because we still have a lot of things to try for tomorrow. But I think the fairing it’s a really important thing to try and understand’.
Asked if the decision could be postponed to the Qatar tests, the 2023 runner-up replied: ‘I guess we can still try in Qatar, but maybe we don’t have enough time. So it’s better if we decide something tomorrow’
