Joan Mir embarks on his second MotoGP season with Repsol Honda. The 2020 world champion was unable to fight for wins and podiums in his first year with the Japanese manufacturer – facing an uncompetitive bike.
Determined to reverse the situation, Honda is working diligently to introduce significant improvements to the RC213V. Mir ensured that he enters the new season encouraged by what he sees, also believing that he will be able to further improve:
– The truth is, I’m very optimistic right now because I’ve seen that Honda is working very hard. They’ve really made a very different bike in a very short time, with noticeable improvements in weight, power, and also in grip. It’s something that I noticed on the first outing I did in Valencia, that they had worked very hard. Then, from Valencia to Sepang, another step forward was taken, and hopefully, we can still improve something more in the Qatar test. Yes, I’m optimistic, I’m more eager than anyone else to take this situation forward and be back at the front, to enjoy racing again, and I’m eager.
