After the Jerez round, there was a lot of controversy with Johann Zarco, who was expelled from a meeting with the Race Direction after getting upset while talking about Freddie Spencer, saying he was not the right person for the job. Now, the French rider has revisited the subject when questioned by the media and reiterated his opinion about the Director of the Stewards.
Asked if he still stands by what he said to the Race Direction after the Jerez round, the Frenchman was clear, while admitting he got hot-headed: ‘Yes, of course. I repeat: I was not professional by speaking loudly during the meeting, but even though it is difficult to apply penalties, I can end the discussion by showing that those who do not complain are the most penalized. That’s what I said’.
For the LCR Honda rider, there are some riders who may not be the most correct and end up leading Spencer astray, as he considers the official to have ‘too much passion’, which clouds his judgment: ‘What is difficult is not to be touched by the hypocrisy of the riders, because as riders we never say ‘it’s his fault’ or… Most riders can lie, so we have to be careful with that and it’s not easy for the judges. That’s what we said in France […]’.
The #5 was then asked if Spencer, as Zarco said before, ‘is not the right type for the job’, with him responding: ‘Freddie is too nice, he has too much passion. He knows it’.
