Raul Fernández arrives at the GP of the Americas with no points in the championship so far. The Spanish rider admitted to making a rookie mistake at the Portimão circuit that ended up costing him the race and once again ending the weekend without any points.
In his debrief, the Trackhouse Racing Team driver spoke about the importance of competing at the American team’s home track and his expectations for the GP of the Americas.
– ‘It’s great to be here again. It’s been a great experience with Trackhouse these days in the USA, it’s been a great experience with the guys from the NASCAR team. The first few races I didn’t feel good and the bike wasn’t on the right track either, it wasn’t what we wanted, so I lost a bit of confidence with those problems. I think this weekend will be good for us because I have the bike with the normal setup and I’m happy because we realized the problem and solved it. The problem was the bike setup and the technical problems, I had to ride the second bike and I didn’t feel very comfortable. Now we’ve realized what the problem was and we’ve arrived here with the bike ready to be competitive.
Asked about this year’s “American” differences in the Trackhouse team, Raul replied: “As far as my mechanics are concerned, they’re the same as last year, but the average and the directors have changed a bit. I like their new mentality in terms of marketing and managing the team, it’s better. When we put on the helmet there are no faces, it’s a team, I think I have an incredible team.
