The Chinese brand Zongshen had already discovered bikes with a classic sporting character, equipped with an integral fairing, lines traditionally linked to the supersport market, but always with a small cubic capacity, nothing that could challenge the market for the most recognized and prestigious sports bikes. The name Cyclone isn’t exactly new, but it seems that if until now we’ve seen it associated with small displacements (400cc), now the arrival of the RC680R is closer.
Although there has been no official announcement so far, and there is a good chance that the model will initially only be destined for the Chinese domestic market, it seems that this supersport will use an in-line four-cylinder engine apparently very similar to that of Honda. The suggestion seems to come from the engine found in the CBR 650 R and CB 650 R, an excellent engine in terms of handling and riding pleasure.
The few images available also show a frame similar to that used by Honda, while at the rear there is a single-sided swingarm. This feature is now associated with a limited number of motorcycles on the sports scene, and in many cases has been abandoned due to higher production costs and greater weight compared to a double-sided swingarm. This is followed by a USD fork and a brake compartment apparently suited to the bike’s supersport spirit.
Even the design doesn’t lie, aerodynamic wings, a full fairing that recalls significant performance. In fact, in China, 100 hp is a barrier to “guda” driving licenses, so this engine should be below that. We can only wait for future developments.
