Yamaha has used the year 2024 to launch one of the most beautiful motorcycles it has probably created in the last 15 years – the 2024 XSR900 GP.
And we thought that would be it for a while, but no, because retro racing fans and motorcyclists in Japan can also equip their XSR900 GP with two extra retro colors. The two extra colors are apparently only available on the Japanese market, unfortunately, and replicate two other famous models from Yamaha’s previous range.
The rest of the bike is inspired by famous race bikes from Yamaha’s long and illustrious racing history, with elements from the TZ250 and YZR500 race bikes helping to shape the rear, front fairing and screen.
The color scheme we received in Europe is also inspired by racing motorcycles, being the famous Marlboro red and white look that has been so famous in many two- and four-wheeled motorsports. However, these two new colors seem to be inspired by road bikes, at least road bikes that have also had some racing success. These are the RD500 and FZ series models. Specifically, it’s the FZ and RD500 models from the 1980s that Yamaha has tried to reproduce.
We’re waiting for the new colors to arrive on the European market so that we can have the opportunity to buy them.
