With the arrival of the new regulations in 2027, the arrival of other manufacturers in the MotoGP world championship also comes into play. BMW Motorrad is one of those manufacturers, after the brand’s director, Markus Flasch, showed clear intentions of joining the most recognized motorsport in the world of two wheels.
In an interview with Speed Week, Marcus Flasch spoke about the possibility of moving up a category, but first he has to be successful in the categories he is in, namely WSBK.
– When everyone starts from scratch, it’s time to start, but until then you have to be successful with what you do. For me, it’s not possible to move up a category without being successful. That’s out of the question for me.
Flasch, who has a close relationship with promoter Dorna, spoke about the German manufacturer’s chances of joining the premier class: ‘This will be a sober and widely supported decision. Every important decision like this has broad support in a company like BMW, and the preparation must be carefully made and justified.’
