Francesco Bagnaia finished the Sprint race without scoring. The Italian driver got off to a disastrous start and ended up making a mistake at the entrance to turn nine and went wide. Pecco then went into the pits and dropped out of the Sprint race.
In a debrief, the Ducati Lenovo Team rider spoke about the events of the Sprint and why he withdrew.
– I don’t know, as soon as I started on the warm-up lap I felt something strange and then I was losing the front at turn six before and widening at turn seven almost under acceleration, so there’s something wrong, but these are things that can happen. We have to change the bike for tomorrow’s race. It’s not easy to understand when these things happen, my team is already working on it, so we’ll see. We have an idea of what it might be, but we’re not sure, I pulled out because there was something wrong and it could be dangerous.
Asked about his expectations for tomorrow’s race, Pecco replied: ‘We expect to fight for the top positions, we’ll take the positives from today. We have to understand what happened. The championship is still long, it’s true that we have to be consistent, but we didn’t expect such a reaction in the Sprint, but we’ll see.
