Marc Márquez finished the Sprint race in second position. A very positive result for the Spanish rider who continues to show signs of improvement from GP to GP.
The Gresini Racing MotoGP™ rider spoke in his debrief about the feelings he had during the race.
– All the riders are starting very well. It was a good start for me, it was a combination of concentration, luck, risk and instinct. The most important thing for me was the pace I had throughout the race because I never had it during the weekend. With this pace I’m very happy. I’m angry with myself about Q1 and I wasn’t convinced. With this bike behind someone I’m uncomfortable, but the main reason was my mistake.
Asked about today’s improvements, Marc replied: ‘We went back to our base from yesterday. We looked at some data from Enea, Pecco and Martín because I didn’t know this circuit on this bike as well as they did and we adjusted the electronics on this base which helped me a lot to be smoother. Rain can sometimes be your best friend or your worst, I don’t know. But repeating today’s start will be impossible. Tomorrow there are three or four riders who are very fast, Pecco, Martin, Maverick, plus Bastianini, so it’s going to be very difficult tomorrow, but everything is open.
He added about the differences between the 23/24 versions: ‘I don’t know what happened to the Pecco, it seemed that it didn’t have the active front starter. I don’t feel there’s a big difference between their version and ours. What I feel is the way I ride the bike, it’s completely different. Tomorrow my plan starts after the first lap, I’m not going to attack like today, it depends on the weather too.
