Marco Melandri closely followed Sunday’s final race at the Le Mans GP. The former Italian MotoGP rider commented, according to motosan.es, on Marc Márquez’s performance during the race and addressed the topic that has been going around the paddock: who will take the factory seat in the Ducati Lenovo Team?
He began by talking about Marc’s performance: ‘The truth is that it could have been a boring GP if Marc hadn’t put his own spin on it. When things change, he’s the strongest. You can really see that he’s getting his attitude back, which means he’s regained confidence in the bike and has hit his stride on this Ducati. He’s a racing animal, he has an intuition and a coolness in his decisions that is frightening, and that showed in the way he started, both in the Sprint and in Sunday’s GP
He then added about the chances of Marc moving up to the factory team and if not, where he might go.
- I think he said he wanted a factory. Not a factory driver in a satellite team, but a factory driver himself. He obviously knows it’s not the same. I don’t know how it will turn out, but in my opinion, if it’s not the Lenovo team for him, he’ll have no problem going to KTM. Either he or Martin will go to KTM
He finished: ‘It also has to be said that the choice will be influenced by other issues that we may have overlooked. Martin won, Marquez is Marquez, but if you look at it, Enea Bastianini was also very strong: in the last ten laps of Le Mans he was the fastest on the track. Someone will have to leave Ducati and, I repeat, I’m convinced it will be Marquez or Martin: one of the two will go to KTM
