Carlo Merini, sales and marketing director of Gresini Racing, spoke to AS about Marc Márquez’s spectacular performance at the French Grand Prix.
Merini began by talking about the last lap overtake on Francesco Baganaia.
– Marc repeated in Sunday’s race what he had done in the Sprint race, going from thirteenth place to second. He had a Marc-style race, with some incredible overtaking.
He added: ‘Third place was perfect for us, but it wouldn’t have been perfect for him. A podium is always a podium, but Marc is someone who, when he sees an opportunity, always takes it. And the overtaking maneuver on Pecco was fantastic. Marc put on another show. That overtake on the last lap was absolutely clean. It scared me when he launched himself so far. It wasn’t just the points that were at stake, but also a lot of post-race discussions in the event of an accident.
