Jorge Martín already has a 38-point advantage over Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) in the MotoGP World Championship lead after just five rounds. This means that, whatever the result in the next GP in Barcelona, he will not be surpassed.
It’s a promising start by last year’s runner-up, who seems to be once again one of the strong contenders for the title – although at this stage it is very premature to make calculations.
Danilo Petrucci told MOW Mag that he believes Martín and Bagnaia will be the two main protagonists in the title fight. However, he thinks that more riders could interfere in the top positions:
– I see Martín particularly fast, in explosive form, but since last year I understood that the more Pecco is in trouble, the more he rises. It will be a fight between the two of them with the inclusion of Marc [Márquez] and [Maverick] Viñales, in my opinion. I hope that [Enea] Bastianini and [Marco] Bezzecchi arrive soon.
At the moment, Márquez and Bastianini are in third and fourth, respectively – just two points behind Bagnaia’s second place and 40 points behind the lead. Further back in terms of the championship are Viñales and Bezzecchi, but both have already shown the ability to be at the front this year and the Spaniard even has a victory.
