Aprilia Racing arrives at a circuit where they have been very successful in the past. Last season, both riders of the Italian manufacturer finished on the top two spots of the podium with Aleix Espargaró in first place in the Sunday race and Maverick Viñales in second. Let’s not forget that Aleix also finished first in the Sprint race and Viñales in third. In statements to the press, Aleix and Maverick talked about their memories of the circuit and their expectations for this weekend in Catalonia.
Espargaró: ‘Barcelona is a circuit that I really like, it’s my home race. The track suits my style very well because it has fast corners and no slow corners. It’s a track where the bike works well. Last year was the best weekend of my life, it won’t be easy to repeat it, but we will try our best and aim to be at the front.’
Viñales: ‘Montmeló is a track that I like, I have many good memories here. When I’m here, I think of Luis Salom and that is a great motivation for me. It’s my home race, all my fan club is there, so it’s a track where I want to perform well. We are ready and prepared to have a good weekend. The mindset is to stay focused, perform well, and give it our all.’
