The GASGAS Tech3 team left the last GP of Le Mans with ‘a huge bitter taste’ following Pedro Acosta’s crash, with the team manager of Hervé Poncharal’s team reminding that it is easy to forget that the rookie is just that, and is in his debut season.
Nicolas Goyon confirmed that he had a strange taste in his mouth after Acosta’s fall on Sunday, saying: ‘A huge bitter taste this year. Pedro Acosta was feeling very good in the morning, he was the fastest in Warm Up. In the race, the feelings were also good and he was fighting at the front, but he made an early mistake and fell’.
At that moment, the disappointment was great in the French team’s box, as there was a clear feeling that Acosta could have done very well: ‘There is some frustration, because there was potential to do well’.
Goyon also made a point of reminding that Acosta is still new to the class and that he will come back even better and stronger: ‘Sometimes we forget that he is a rookie and that this is only his first mistake this season, and I am sure that it will help him recover even better and make him a stronger rider’.
