Honda is one of the least competitive manufacturers in MotoGP currently, unlike Aprilia. Therefore, and going through a good phase in his career, Maverick Viñales wouldn’t have many reasons to change.
At least, from a sporting point of view. However, the rider may be ‘distracted’ by the monetary offer that a contract with the Japanese manufacturer could bring – according to the publication MotoSprint.
At a time when the results are far from the best, Honda has a great ‘weapon’ to attract riders: the financial conditions it has. In addition, it is a growth project to return to the fight for the top.
And, in this way, Honda may take Viñales from Aprilia. The rider is at the end of his contract and at the best moment of his career to have negotiating power. In the Japanese team, the future of Joan Mir is uncertain, as well as that of Takaaki Nakagami (LCR Honda).
However, Viñales is approaching 30 years old and, while at Aprilia he seems to be building a path that could lead him to titles, a failed project at Honda could permanently distance him from the dream of being MotoGP champion. A decision that will not be easy to make, assuming that the Noale manufacturer is also interested in renewal.
