Jorge Martín or Marc Márquez? This is a question that Ducati is asking itself these weeks, as it approaches the choice of its second rider for the 2025 MotoGP season. Jorge Martínez Aspar would have a clear option.
The owner of the Aspar Team told the newspaper AS that he would opt for the eight-time world champion, despite the risks and considering that Martín could be easier to manage:
– If I were Ducati, I would choose Marc, but knowing that this could create problems. Problems of having two great champions among whom there may be their ups and downs within the garage. I think a Jorge Martín might bring more stability to the team. Marc, if he goes there, it’s because he wants to be world champion. Of course, Jorge also, but maybe a Jorge is easier to manage than a Marc.
Regarding Márquez specifically, Aspar also praised the risk that the rider took this year by going to Gresini: ‘Without a doubt Marc. Right from the start, what Marc is doing this year, with such a risky bet without thinking about the money, demonstrating that he wants to be world champion more than the money, with that alone is enough to be chosen as the bet‘.
