Álvaro Bautista returned to Aruba.it Ducati in the World Superbike Championship for the second time in 2022 and has since dominated the championship. He is currently at the end of his contract and his continuity is uncertain – despite the results continuing to appear.
Even after a more difficult start with the new rules introduced this year regarding the minimum weight, the Spanish rider already seems to be adapted and is fighting for the top. However, at 39 years old, he is already in the final stage of his career.
In any case, manager Alberto Vergani believes that Bautista will not leave where he is: ‘I think Álvaro will continue to compete with Ducati next year, on the Aruba team he is so comfortable that he won two World Championships. In addition to the team, he has a great relationship with Stefano Cecconi and Serafino Foti, so he lacks nothing,’ he told GPOne.com.
Regarding the age issue, the Italian downplayed it: ‘The clock is ticking for him too, but Álvaro is a rider who trains a lot to maintain peak physical condition, and his form is there for everyone to see’.
