Marc Márquez achieved second place in the MotoGP French Grand Prix, marking his second consecutive podium after the same result in the Spanish Grand Prix. Something he hadn’t done in a while.
The last time the Spanish rider had finished in the top three in two consecutive Grands Prix was in 2021 – when he won the Americas Grand Prix and the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, in October of that year.
This means that it had been over two and a half years since Márquez had managed to achieve two consecutive podiums. During that period, up to the Jerez and Le Mans rounds, he had only achieved two more podiums – one in 2022 and another in 2023.
The decrease in competitiveness of Honda largely explains this record by the eight-time world champion – as the Japanese manufacturer did not provide him with the conditions to regularly fight for the podium after recovering from his injuries.
Now, Márquez has started a new phase of his career with Gresini, once again showing that he is a fast and competitive rider aboard a Ducati Desmosedici GP23. He is in third place in the championship, just two points behind Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) who is right ahead of him. The leader, Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati), is 40 points ahead.
