Kevin Schwantz was recently present at a Suzuki event where he discussed various topics related to MotoGP and its riders. One of the riders he talked about was Pedro Acosta.
In statements, according to GPOne, Schwantz praised the Spanish rider and believes that the rookie’s performance is not a surprise.
– Everyone when they saw Pedro Acosta leading in the first races said it was a surprise, but in reality he always showed the consistency he is capable of. Even in Le Mans, in free practice, he was immediately at the front. I think he is a young and talented rider and I consider him a friend.
He also added about the mentality of the riders compared to his era: ‘I have already said in Austin that I think today’s riders should learn to speak more about what they think, like Acosta does, to better express their emotions. I know that when we talk about riders we are talking about a duel that takes place on the track, but in reality even when they leave the track this duel continues, what I would call a verbal challenge. And I think he is not playing like we used to see before, everyone is too politically correct, but the level of riders nowadays is certainly very high.’
