Jack Miller is in his second year with Red Bull KTM in MotoGP and is struggling to find the way to have a consistent form and keep up with his teammate, Brad Binder.
In the French GP, the Australian did not score any points, which is happening for the second time this season – besides suffering the second consecutive retirement in main races.
The potential of the KTM RC16 is undeniable – Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GasGas Tech3/KTM) is a rookie, in the satellite team, but is able to fight at the top. And Binder, although he only has one podium, has never missed the top ten in main races.
The exception for Miller this year seems to have been the double fifth place in the Portuguese GP. It was the only time he reached the top ten in a main race, and it has been five rounds since then.
The crisis of results intensified in Le Mans: if it weren’t for the eighth place in the Sprint race, he would have had two consecutive Grands Prix without scoring – although, at the time of the incident in the main race, he was in 11th place, which would have earned him points. Very slim for KTM’s ambitions and for the rider’s resume.
At the end of his contract, Miller is obliged to do much better if he wants to keep his place in 2025. KTM has many options to replace him, starting with Acosta, so the pressure is on the Australian. And, as places in the grid are scarce, he will also naturally have to improve in order to secure a spot in a competitive team.
