Nicholas Spinelli won both races of the MotoE French Grand Prix, held this Saturday at Le Mans. He now has three victories in four races this season, but he is still only second in the championship, two points behind the new leader – Mattia Casadei.
The pole position was taken by Héctor Garzó (Dynavolt Intact GP), who led at the end of the first lap before being overtaken by Spinelli. The Italian managed to lead every lap until the checkered flag, although the margins were not considerable.
Garzó was in the fight for the podium until he crashed five laps from the end. This left Casadei (LCR E-Team) in third position, but the Italian ended up losing it to Kevin Zannoni (Openbank Aspar) on the penultimate lap and had to settle for third place. Spinelli won with a 1.353s lead over Zannoni. Jordi Torres (Openbank Aspar) finished fourth.
In the second race, Spinelli also prevailed. The Italian was already leading the race at the end of the first lap and, after spending some time in second place, he overtook Casadei to return to the top on the fourth lap.
The battle lasted until the end, with Spinelli managing to withstand the pressure from Casadei and crossing the finish line with a 0.139s margin. Óscar Gutiérrez (Axxis-MSI) rounded out the podium at 0.410s, with Alessandro Zaccone (Tech3 E-racing) in fourth. Garzó crashed again, this time on the second lap.
