Áron Canet, coming from Q1, was the highlight of the Moto2 qualifying in Le Mans, with the Fantic Racing rider securing the pole position for Sunday’s race.
After Zonta vd Goorbergh, Áron Canet, Senna Agius, and Izan Guevara secured their spots in Q2, it was now left to see who would be the fastest in this qualifying session in Le Mans, in the intermediate class.
Alonso López and Filip Salac were the first to go to the top of the timesheets, with roughly half of the riders still without setting any fast laps.
Manuel González meanwhile set the best time so far at 1:35.453s, a 0.161s advantage over López, with Guevara in third.
The session was about halfway through, and as usual, the riders headed back to their team garages to prepare for the final attack on the times and the pole position. Tony Arbolino was still not showing competitive pace, sitting in 17th place, despite winning the Moto2 GP in France last year.
Áron Canet meanwhile moved to the top of the qualifying with just over two minutes to go, with Joe Roberts moving into second place. 0.136s separated the riders.
Fermín Aldeguer, in 11th, was struggling while Sergio García made it to the front row, currently in third place. Shortly after, Senna Agius crashed.
It was precisely the Spanish rider, who will be in MotoGP in 2025, who was attacking for the pole position but something happened and the #54 lost a lot of time.
No final era Canet a garantir a pole position no Moto2, com Roberts e García a fazerem-lhe companhia na primeira fila da grelha. Muitos dos tempos conseguidos no final foram canceladas dada a bandeira amarela no circuito.
