Another record fell this morning in Le Mans. Manuel González set the fastest Moto2 lap ever at the circuit during the second practice for the French GP.
The first to complete a flying lap was Fermín Aldeguer (Folladore SpeedUp/Boscoscuro), but after the first laps of most riders, the lead was taken by González (QJMotor Gresini/Kalex).
The Spaniard was later overtaken by Marcos Ramírez (OnlyFans American Racing Team/Kalex), who then reinforced the lead. However, he was later surpassed by Sergio García (MT Helmets-MSi/Boscoscuro).
García managed to hold onto the top spot for almost 13 minutes before González set the record lap: 1m34.868s. Until the end, no one was able to beat the Spaniard, who finished 0.227s ahead of García.
In third was Jeremy Alcoba (Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Team/Kalex). In the battle for direct access to Q2, the last to achieve it was Barry Baltus (RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP/Kalex) in 14th, with a 0.021s advantage over teammate Zonta van der Goorbergh. Among the other riders going to Q1 is Arón Canet (Fantic Racing/Kalex), who has already won a race this year.
