Héctor Garzó will start from pole position in the MotoE French GP. The qualifying took place this afternoon at Le Mans and the rider set a new record lap in 1m39.995s.
In Q1, only three riders took the lead: Andrea Mantovani (Klint Forward), Mattia Casadei (LCR E-Team), and finally Kevin Zannoni (Openbank Aspar), who ended up as the fastest by beating Casadei by 0.256s. Mantovani was third, missing out on qualifying by just 0.027s.
Also missing out was the 2019 champion, Matteo Ferrari (Felo Gresini), who only finished sixth. The veteran Chaz Davies (Aruba Cloud MotoE) could not do better than eighth place.
Eric Granado (LCR E-Team) started the Q2 better, leading with his first laps… before being surpassed by Héctor Garzó (Dynavolt Intact GP). The Spanish rider set two consecutive fast laps to finish as the leader, being the only one to lap in the 1m39s.
The second was Nicholas Spinelli (Tech3 E-Racing), who was only 0.031s behind and pushed Granado to third on the starting grid. Coming from Q1, Casadei managed to secure the fourth position. Zannoni was unable to ride in this Q2 after a fall at the end of Q1.
